Police have taken three persons into custody as they investigate the circumstances under which a 12 year old girl was impregnated.

Law enforcers have not disclosed the names of those detained yesterday.

Investigations have revealed that the child was impregnated by an adult with whom she allegedly has a relationship.

Police are also claiming that the child’s relatives are aware that she was involved with the adult.

They did not disclose how the matter was eventually brought to the attention of the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse, CISOCA.

Police say the three persons have been arrested on suspicion of cruelty to a child, failure to report abuse to the Office of the Children’s Registry, aiding and abetting sexual intercourse with a minor, grievous sexual assault, sexual touching, and sexual intercourse with a person under 16 year old.

Deejay Vybz Kartel brought the Portmore Empire group to fame soon after its 2007 inception. The group later started the 'Gaza' movement.
Now, with Vybz Kartel's court woes, the 'seven star general' has made it his duty to "run the Gaza while the boss is away".
"Mi live a Portmore and mi like wah Kartel did a do...a buss the youths but now dem a frame him so we just a continue it. Mi a run di thing because nobody nah really run it. When him come back him a di boss still, but for now me a run it," he explained.

Lewis said that thus far, the Gaza Federation members include Lackchat, Chin, Dolla Speng and long-time Portmore Empire member Dosa Medicine, among others.
He plans to approach Deva Bratt to join the group and is giving deejay Popcaan one week to join or face the consequences.
"Everybody have him as a Judas so mi a give him a week fi come sign in back," he said.

When contacted Deva Bratt said he has no intention of joining the group.
"No time! A Krucial Konflict mi a seh right now, mi an mi artiste dem happy right now and just a work," he said
He is currently working with young acts like Askel 45, Polka Dot, Lando Swizz, Hotta Mud, Toxic and Fire Flames and has the Uncle and the Exorcist rhythms now out.

He went on to say that with all his legal run-ins now behind him, he is aiming to develop a working relationship with all musicians and disc jockeys.
"Mi songs them a reach overseas and the people are asking how comes them not hearing me out here on the radio, but don't worry I'm still here. Right now I'm just getting ready to start working with the disc jockeys again," he said.

Lewis is also looking to release the first rhythm from the Gaza Federation titled War Season.
He plans to now go by the stage name War Angel, aka 7 Star General, reserving L.A. Lewis for the business part of things.
He recently fired warning shots at deejays Lyara and KipRich in songs like Warning Shot and War Season and is now warning them that the Gaza Federationwill crush anybody in its path.

"Mi do three tune fi KipRich an all now him nuh answer like a scared him scared. Lyara a KipRich spouse so mi just a rub out di whole a dem and di corruption. From yuh fight against wi system yuh a fight against the Gaza Federation. A we a di secret society," he said.

Dance Hall artiste Mavado was this morning found guilty on two charges and fined when he appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrates Court.

The artiste, whose real name is David Brooks, was found guilty by Resident Magistrate Wilson Smith and fined $100,000 or six months.

He was fined $80,000 or six months on the charge of assault and another $20,000 or six months for malicious destruction of property.

Both sentences are to run concurrently the RM also ruled.

The conviction came out of an incident that took place in rural St James in July last year.

Brooks had injured a man who he claimed was blocking his way by using the wheel of his Sports Utility Vehicle to squeeze the man between his car door and the car the man was driving, causing swelling to his foot and a cut to his shoulder.

The court also heard that the damage to the car was about $25,000.

With hip-hop superstar Birdman's recent announcement that DJ Khaled's We The Best Imprint is now signed to Cash Money Records, Mavado now sits under the roof of one of the biggest American record labels.

In September of last year, Mavado appeared on the Angie Martinez show on New York's Hot 97 radio station and announced that he had signed a deal with DJ Khaled's record label, We the Best Music Group.

Since joining the label, he has released songs such as Emergency featuring Ace Hood and Survivor featuringAkon.

Mavado's manager, Julian Jones-Griffith, told The WEEKEND STAR that they have been aware of DJ Khaled's deal with Young Money Cash Money Billionaires (YMCMB) and that he sees the signing as beneficial to all parties.

"Khaled's deal with YMCMB has been in the pipeline for a long time, they are a family. Even his last album went through them and that huge single with Drake and Ross and Wayne, I'm On One, was through YMCMB. I was aware of the deal being negotiated before we signed with We The Best but it didn't influence our decision either way. We put our faith in Khaled and what he can bring to the table and with or without YMCMB we still believe in him."

He continued, "Now YMCMB has officially made We The Best an imprint, it's just a bonus for all of us. It does affect us in thatCash Money will also be directly pushing Mavado's project, and we will be supported by their radio promotions and marketing teams, which as you can see from the charts over the last few years, are the best in the business," said Jones-Griffith.

Mavado also gave similar comments as he said, "It's just more strength to the ting. The whole situation with us and Khaled has a family vibe to it so the family just got bigger and more powerful! I do expect it to affect me directly but only in a positive way."

He also shared that he already has a musical relationship with the YMCMB group saying, "As far as collabs with YMCMB artistes, that's always been available. We have a great relationship with everyone at Cash Money already and we have already been recording with YMCMB acts, you soon hear them! With features, it's always a case of when the time and record is right we reach out to them and vice-versa."

POPULAR reggae singer Natural Black has cut off his locks, breaking his covenant in the Rastafarian lifestyle and dramatically altering his look.

"I got up and cut off my locks Sunday morning because I looked around at my surroundings and realised that I have not been living a Rastafarian lifestyle. I want to see the changes around me, and as it relates to the upliftment of the people, the direction of the Rasta order and the walk toward perfection. That is not happening. I just see discord and chaos in the rasta community, all of it is very misleading," said the artiste, whose real name is Mortimer Softley.
The Far From Reality singer is aware that there might be a backlash from members of the Rastafarian community, but he is prepared to defend his decision.
"They tell you one thing about the upliftment of the people and improvements and things His Majesty speaks of, but in the long run, you realise that is a different thing which is really happening and it is disappointing. Rasta still stands predominant. We can only defile ourselves, Rasta is still the highest, but I am not living up to those high standards, so I can't be a hypocrite. That is why I take a pair of scissors and cut my locks myself," he said.
Natural Black plans to concentrate more on recording dancehall music, and is putting the recording of roots and culture songs on pause.
"I just need a break from it, I feel like I need a change, mi a go tek it to the dancehall right now. Because I buss with Songs with Meaning and Far From Reality, dem brand me as a roots artiste, but mi have the chance and the talent to do dancehall as well. I respect Rasta but mi caan be a rasta and do skettel music, It nah go match, I want to do some hardcore dancehall songs and mi caan do both, that ah go create a conflict within myself," he said.
He commisserated with his fans who might feel betrayed by his decision but pointed to well-known members of society such as consultant Leachim Semaj and Dr Peter Phillips, minister of finance, plannning and the public service, who have abandoned the Rastafarian lifestyle by cutting their locks.
"People change and move on, mi de pon my journey and this is where it lead me. Mi ah do this for myself, right now, mi ready fi the dancehall," he said.
The singer is promoting new singles, Play With You, and a song, Dancehall Riddim on a rhythm track of the same name on his own Shagillia label.

Dancehall music has once again found favour with international stars.

The latest occurrence being in Kanye West's Billboard charting song Mercy which features a sample of the high-pitched vocals of Fuzzy Jones, a once hugely popular song/dubplate intro man.

Mercy, which sees Kanye West collaborating with fast-rising hip-hop acts Big Sean, Pusha T and 2 Chainz, samples Jones' intro in Super Beagle's Dust A Sound Boy which was produced by Winston Riley on the Stalag rhythm.

The song was released on April 6, 2012, as the lead single from the compilation album, GOOD Music.

Jones' vocals can be heard saying: "Well it is a weeping and a moaning and a gnashing of teeth in the dancehall. And who nuh have no teeth gwine run pon them gums. Cause when it come to my sound which is the champion sound the bugle has blown fi many times and it still have one more time left, cause the amount of stripe weh deh pon our shoulder."

He can be heard at the start in part, and in full about mid-way through the song which was produced by Lifted.

In a recent interview, Lifted did with Karmaloop TV, he said that he was unsure as to who added the Jamaican element to the song as he was not the only one who worked on the track.

Fuzzy Jones' intros were popular in several songs and dubplates for sound systems which oftentimes used them in sound clashes.

Among the songs he can be heard in are Little John's Fade Away, Banana Man's Jump & Spread Out, Michael Batis' Die You Die and Gregory Isaacs' The Ruler. Jones died in 2005.

Recently, international stars Estelle and Pleasure P also sampled the genre in Witness using a rhythm produced by Clifton 'Specialist' Dillon which featured Buju Banton's Boom Bye Bye and Mad Cobra's Flex. A line of the latter was also sampled in the song

According to an email sent to us this evening, the mother of Vybz kartel’s children, Shorty experienced a criminal scare after two men trespassed at her home in Norbrook, upper St. Andrew about 12am, this morning

In the email, the source explained that Shorty went outside for something in Vybz Kartel’s Toyota Harrier, when she spotted two unidentified men; one hiding behind Vybz Kartel’s Benz while the other in a mango tree. She immediately screamed and cried out for help.

Upon the alarm by Shorty, the men then made an hasty escape by jumping the walls of her neighbor’s premises.

It’s not clear if a report was made to the police.

The family was seeking millions of dollars in damages, claiming UMG was trying to “exploit…the quintessential Bob Marley sound recordings.” They also claimed the company intentionally withheld royalties, despite an agreement in 1995 that gave them rights to the songs. The main blow was when UMG signed a deal with mobile carriers to offer Marley ringtones without the family’s consent.

The court ruled, however, that the albums were “works made for hire” and therefore belonged to UMG.
